ViewSonic CPB701-4K 3500 Lumens 4K Projector

ViewSonic CPB701-4K 4K Projector

The ViewSonic CPB701-4K is a lamp-based home projector that delivers a 4K UHD picture at 3,500 ANSI lumens, with HDR and HLG support and a gaming specification that includes 4.2 ms ultra-fast input and a 240 Hz refresh rate at lower resolutions. It is built for living rooms and media rooms where a very large image is wanted without turning the space into a fully blacked-out theatre, and where films, sport and games all share the same screen.

Key features

• 4K UHD resolution of 3840 x 2160 with HDR and HLG support
• 3,500 ANSI lumens for viewing with some ambient light present
• 4.2 ms ultra-fast input and 240 Hz refresh rate for gaming
• 20,000:1 contrast ratio with SuperEco mode
• Lamp life of 6,000 hours in Normal mode and 20,000 hours in SuperEco mode
• Warping, auto vertical keystone, horizontal and vertical keystone and 4-corner adjustment
• Image size from 30 inches to 300 inches
• 10 W built-in speaker for sound without an external system

Picture quality and colour

The DLP engine produces a 3840 x 2160 image with 1.07 billion display colours. HDR and HLG handling adds highlight and shadow detail on compatible films and broadcasts, while the 3,500-lumen output keeps the picture usable when curtains are open or a lamp stays on. ViewSonic rates contrast at 20,000:1 with SuperEco mode, which also extends lamp life considerably. For everyday viewing that balance matters: brightness for sport and family films during the day, and enough contrast for evening movies without demanding a dedicated dark room.

Gaming performance

Few home projectors in this class publish a gaming figure as low as 4.2 ms input lag, paired here with support for a 240 Hz refresh rate. That combination reduces the delay between controller and screen and keeps fast motion looking cleaner, which suits racing, sports and first-person titles played on a very large image. Two HDMI inputs allow a console and a streaming player or disc player to stay connected at the same time, so switching sources does not mean swapping cables behind the projector.

Setup and placement

Placement is helped by a 1.5 to 1.65 throw ratio, 1.1x optical zoom and extensive geometry correction. Auto vertical keystone, horizontal and vertical keystone, 4-corner adjustment and a warping tool let the image be squared on flat walls and corrected even on imperfect or curved surfaces. The chassis measures 312 x 222 x 108 mm and weighs 2.8 kg, so it can sit on a coffee table, a rear shelf or a ceiling mount. A 120 percent projection offset should be allowed for when planning a fixed ceiling position.

Ownership and everyday use

The 203 W lamp is rated for 6,000 hours in Normal mode and 20,000 hours in SuperEco mode, which lowers the long-term cost of ownership compared with older lamp designs. Operating noise is quoted at 31 dB in normal use and 28 dB in Eco, quiet enough not to intrude during dialogue. The built-in 10 W speaker covers casual viewing, presentations and children’s content, while an external sound system can be added when a film night calls for more scale and bass.

The CPB701-4K suits households that want one projector for films, live sport and serious gaming, value flexible correction tools for imperfect rooms, and prefer the lower running cost of a long-life lamp design over a fully dark-room specialist model.
