ADAM Audio D3V Desktop Studio Monitor

ADAM Audio D3V Desktop Studio Monitor – Professional Monitoring for Compact Desks

The ADAM Audio D3V is an active desktop monitoring system built for producers, editors and engineers who work at close range in small rooms. Sold as a stereo pair, it fits cabinets small enough to sit beside a laptop, yet suits music production, video editing and podcast work where accuracy matters.

The D3V combines a folded-ribbon tweeter, an aluminium woofer with passive radiators and onboard digital processing. It is designed for ultra-close listening, with tuning controls that help it behave predictably on a desk, against a wall or in an untreated bedroom studio.

Key features

• D-ART folded-ribbon tweeter for detailed, low-fatigue high frequencies
• 3.5-inch single-piece aluminium woofer in each cabinet
• Dual passive radiators extend low-frequency output without port noise
• Frequency response of 48 Hz to 22.6 kHz at the -3 dB points
• Bi-amplified design with dedicated power for woofer and tweeter
• USB-C digital input for a direct, driver-free computer connection
• Balanced 6.3 mm TRS analogue inputs for audio interfaces
• Three-position DSP room adaptation for bass, desk effect and treble
• Front volume control that also handles mute, standby and input selection
• 3.5 mm headphone output for quick reference checks

Performance

The D-ART tweeter uses a pleated diaphragm that moves air efficiently, giving the D3V the fast transient response and fine top-end detail associated with ADAM studio monitors. Vocals, reverbs and edit points stay easy to judge, and the presentation remains composed during long sessions. With a crossover at 4.0 kHz, the aluminium woofer covers the midrange cleanly, so voices and instruments retain a natural weight at desktop listening distances.

Low frequencies come from the woofer working with two passive radiators, avoiding the chuffing of a small reflex port. Bass reaches lower than the cabinet size suggests, with enough definition to check kick drums and bass lines, and maximum output of 96 dB peak at one metre is ample for nearfield work.

Connectivity and controls

A USB-C connection carries digital audio from a computer at up to 24-bit resolution, which makes the D3V a simple one-cable monitoring option for laptop-based setups. Balanced TRS inputs are also provided for use with an audio interface or mixer, and a front-panel headphone socket allows silent checking without repatching cables. The single front knob controls level for both the speakers and the headphone output.

Rear-panel three-position switches trim bass near walls, compensate for desk-surface low-mid lift and adjust treble for room brightness. They make a practical difference in untreated rooms, where the monitors sit wherever the desk allows.

Design and placement

The injection-moulded cabinet is compact at 200 mm tall, 115 mm wide and 150 mm deep, and angled desktop stands are included to aim the drivers toward the ears. A threaded insert underneath also allows mounting on a microphone stand. At under two kilograms per side, the system is easy to reposition as a workspace changes.

Choose the D3V if you need honest, detailed monitoring on a small desk and want the convenience of USB audio, interface-ready analogue inputs and room tuning in one matched stereo system.
