Edifier S3000MKII Audiophile Active Speakers, Wireless Powered Bookshelf Speaker Bluetooth 5.0 Aptx With Planar Diaphragm Tweeters, Hi-res Audio And 6.5″ Woofers(upgraded)

Edifier S3000MKII – Flagship Powered Bookshelf Speakers with Planar Tweeters

The S3000MKII is Edifier’s flagship active bookshelf system: planar magnetic tweeters and 6.5-inch aluminium woofers in hand-finished walnut veneer cabinets, driven by 256 watts RMS of internal amplification and corrected by onboard DSP. It is built for listeners who want the resolution of serious hi-fi without a rack of separate components – the amplifiers, DAC inputs and room correction are all inside the speakers, and the two cabinets link wirelessly, so no speaker cable runs between them.

Key features

• Planar magnetic tweeters for fast, low-distortion treble extending to 40 kHz
• 6.5-inch aluminium cone woofers with 120 W per side of woofer amplification
• 256 W RMS total system power with signal-to-noise ratio of 100 dB
• Hi-Res Audio certified playback
• Balanced XLR input alongside optical, coaxial, USB and RCA inputs
• Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX for high-quality wireless streaming
• DSP crossover, EQ and room correction built in
• Wireless link between left and right speakers – no interconnecting cable

Why planar tweeters sound different

A planar magnetic tweeter moves a thin film diaphragm across its whole surface at once, instead of pivoting a dome from its edge. The result is treble with very low distortion and exceptional transient speed – cymbals decay naturally, string texture stays intact, and the response extends flat to 40 kHz, beyond human hearing, which keeps the audible band free of break-up artefacts. Paired with the stiff aluminium woofer, the S3000MKII presents detail without hardness.

A complete hi-fi system in two cabinets

Connect a turntable preamp or CD transport digitally, a streamer or computer over USB, a television over optical, or a phone over Bluetooth aptX – the speakers handle switching and volume. The balanced XLR input serves studio-style sources and long cable runs without hum. DSP room correction tames the bass lift most rooms add near walls, and rear tone controls let you fine-tune by ear.

Placement and use

The cabinets suit medium and larger rooms on stands or a solid sideboard. With 256 watts on tap and honest output down to 38 Hz, most listeners will not miss a subwoofer for music; a sub can still be added later for film. The wireless speaker link means the pair can flank a fireplace or doorway without a cable crossing the room.

Positioning for best results

Planar tweeters disperse treble widely, but the S3000MKII still rewards stands that put the tweeters at ear level and a listening position clear of the room’s centre null. Keep the cabinets at least a short distance from rear walls, then use the DSP room correction and rear bass control to settle the low end – in most rooms a small correction transforms bass definition more than any cable or accessory upgrade.

For a one-purchase route to genuine high-end stereo, the S3000MKII is Edifier’s definitive statement.
