The BIC America Acoustech AU810 is the largest model in BIC’s Acoustech AuraPro in-ceiling series — an 8-inch 2-way speaker for whole-home audio and home theatre installations where the sound should be heard, not seen. The 8-inch polypropylene cone woofer and 1-inch Tetoron-plus-graphene tweeter deliver a frequency response of 50 Hz to 20 kHz, with 91 dB sensitivity and recommended amplifier power of 10 to 150 watts into 8 ohms. A 12 dB-per-octave crossover keeps the handover between the drivers clean.
The bigger 8-inch cone is the reason to choose the AU810 over the smaller AU510/AU610 models: more cone area means fuller midrange and meaningful bass down to 50 Hz from the ceiling — important in open-plan living areas, larger kitchens and entertainment spaces where a 6.5-inch ceiling speaker can sound thin. The tweeter’s Tetoron (textile) dome with graphene treatment aims for detailed highs without harshness.

Planning the installation
The AU810 needs a 9⅝-inch (245 mm) diameter cut-out and 5 inches (127 mm) of clearance above the ceiling. BIC’s installation guidance for the series: run speaker wires after the AC wiring is in place and avoid long parallel runs alongside power cables to prevent induced hum; secure wires with insulated staples and leave a few feet of slack coiled at each opening for final connection; in new construction, fit the speakers only after the wallboard is up, and do not let the cut-out extend beyond the mounting frame. Correct polarity at every speaker keeps bass consistent across a zone.
System roles
Use AU810s in pairs for stereo music zones, singly or in sets for distributed audio, or as Dolby Atmos height channels — the 50 Hz extension and 91 dB sensitivity suit all three. As a passive 8-ohm speaker it runs from any AV receiver or multiroom amplifier channel.
Where it fits
Larger rooms and open-plan homes wanting discreet, full-range ceiling sound without visible speakers. Full specifications are in the Additional Information table on this page.
