Speaker Craft CRS6

SpeakerCraft CRS6 In-Ceiling Speaker

The SpeakerCraft CRS6 — sold in its CRS6 Zero form with a zero-bezel magnetic grille — is a 2-way in-ceiling loudspeaker from SpeakerCraft’s Custom Round Series, designed to put music and film sound into a room without putting speakers on show. It fits into the ceiling, sits behind a grille with no visible bezel, and covers the space below with a 6.5-inch woofer and a pivoting 1-inch silk dome tweeter. That combination suits background music, multiroom audio and home cinema installations where the speakers should be heard rather than seen.

SpeakerCraft built its name on architectural speakers, and the CRS series applies the company’s WavePlane tweeter technology to a value-focused round ceiling format. Published data for the CRS6 Zero is deliberately modest and this listing sticks to it: 8-ohm impedance and 92 dB sensitivity (1 W/1 m) are the confirmed electrical figures, with the driver complement above confirmed from SpeakerCraft’s own CRS6 installation documentation.

Key features

• 2-way in-ceiling loudspeaker from the Custom Round Series
• 6.5-inch polypropylene cone woofer with rubber surround
• Pivoting 1-inch silk dome tweeter — aim the treble toward or away from the listening area
• Zero-bezel magnetic grille for a near-invisible ceiling finish
• 8-ohm impedance, compatible with standard AV receivers and multiroom amplifiers
• 92 dB sensitivity (1 W/1 m) for healthy output from modest amplifier power
• WavePlane tweeter baffle technology for wider high-frequency dispersion

Why the tweeter pivots

High frequencies are directional, and a ceiling speaker fires them straight down by default — fine when you are underneath it, less fine across a whole room. The CRS6 tweeter pivots, so the installer can angle the treble toward the main seating or listening area, or soften it by aiming slightly away. Behind the tweeter, SpeakerCraft’s WavePlane baffle gives the high frequencies a solid surface to reflect from instead of the moving woofer cone, which improves dispersion and helps the speaker sound consistent off-axis, not just in one sweet spot.

The zero-bezel finish

The Zero version replaces the traditional wide frame with a magnetic, bezel-free grille that sits almost flush with the ceiling surface. Once installed, the grille reads as a subtle disc rather than a piece of equipment, which is why this format is popular in living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms and commercial interiors where visible speaker boxes would fight the design. The magnetic attachment also makes the grille simple to remove for cleaning or redecoration.

Where the CRS6 works best

Pairs of CRS6 speakers cover stereo music in a room; larger counts build whole-home audio with even coverage, and in a home cinema they can serve surround or overhead roles alongside matching front speakers. The 92 dB sensitivity means ordinary AV receivers and multiroom amplifiers drive them comfortably without exotic amplification. As with any in-ceiling installation, plan positions before cutting: keep speakers clear of joists, lights and HVAC runs, aim the tweeters once the seating is fixed, and run cable rated for in-wall use.

For rooms that need real sound without visible speakers, the CRS6 Zero is SpeakerCraft’s straightforward answer — a proven driver layout, an aimable tweeter and a grille that all but disappears into the ceiling.
