Mp 230 White

Edifier MP230 Portable Bluetooth Speaker (White)

The Edifier MP230 is a portable Bluetooth speaker styled after a vintage tabletop radio — wooden enclosure, retro controls and a warm, balanced sound — in this white finish. Edifier built it for listeners who want a speaker that looks like furniture rather than electronics: it sits on a shelf, desk or bedside table and plays from a phone over Bluetooth, with the tactile dials and switches of the radios it imitates.

Under the retro skin is a modern portable: Bluetooth wireless streaming, a rechargeable battery for moving it around the house, and auxiliary playback options for wired sources. The wooden cabinet is not just styling — a rigid wooden enclosure gives the drivers a proper acoustic chamber, which is why the MP230 sounds warmer and fuller than plastic portables of similar size.

Key features

• Retro radio styling with a real wooden enclosure
• Bluetooth wireless streaming from phones and tablets
• Rechargeable battery for portable use around the home
• Tactile physical controls in the classic radio layout
• Warm, balanced tuning for everyday listening
• White finish for light interiors
• Auxiliary wired input for non-Bluetooth sources

Sound character

The MP230 is tuned for long, comfortable listening rather than maximum loudness: FM-style warmth in the midrange where voices and acoustic instruments live, enough bass to give music body at desktop and bedside distances, and a top end that stays smooth over hours. It suits radio, podcasts, jazz, acoustic music and the general background of a living day better than it suits party volumes — that honesty about its job is what makes it likeable.

Where it belongs

On a kitchen counter for morning radio, on a desk for workday listening, on a bedside table, or in a reading corner — anywhere a small, handsome, self-contained speaker earns its place by being used daily. The portability is for room-to-room life rather than travel; there is no waterproofing claim here, so keep it to indoor and dry veranda use.

Edifier’s design line

Edifier has made a speciality of speakers that acknowledge interiors — bookshelf systems in wood finishes, retro portables like this one. The MP230 is the playful end of that line: an object first, a speaker immediately after, and better at both for not pretending to be a party box.

If your listening is daily and your taste runs to warm design, the MP230 in white is a small speaker with an unusually large amount of charm.

Ownership notes

Charge the MP230 with its supplied cable, keep it away from radiators and direct sun (wooden cabinets prefer ordinary room conditions), and dust it with a soft dry cloth rather than sprays. The finish and the retro controls reward gentle handling. Treated like the piece of furniture it resembles, the MP230 ages gracefully — it is the rare Bluetooth speaker that looks better in a room after a year than the day it arrived.
