Sennheiser CX True Wireless Earbuds (Black)

Sennheiser CX True Wireless Earbuds (Black)

The Sennheiser CX True Wireless earbuds put the company’s 7 mm TrueResponse dynamic driver — the same transducer family as its premium in-ears — into an everyday true wireless format, in black. The proposition is sound quality first: a balanced, detailed presentation with the bass depth Sennheiser builds through its Bass Boost feature in the Smart Control app, rather than the exaggerated tuning common at this price.

Battery life is a strength: up to 9 hours from the earbuds and 27 hours in total with the charging case, so a week of commuting passes between charges. Bluetooth 5.2 with aptX support keeps quality high from Android phones, the buds are IPX4 rated against splashes and workouts, and touch controls plus voice-assistant access cover daily operation without reaching for the phone.

Sound character

The CX tuning is Sennheiser’s house balance: present, textured bass that does not swamp the midrange, clear vocals, and treble with detail rather than glare. Listeners who find typical budget buds boomy and harsh will hear the difference immediately; listeners who want more low-end weight can engage Bass Boost in the app rather than it being forced on every track.

Daily life

The case is pocketable, the buds pair and reconnect without fuss, and each bud works independently for calls and mono listening. Call quality uses the buds’ microphones with sidetone so you can hear your own voice naturally. IPX4 covers rain and gym sessions; wipe the buds before returning them to the case and the contacts stay happy.

Fit

As with every in-ear, the supplied tip sizes decide both comfort and bass — the seal is the sound. Start with the medium tips, try a size either way, and judge by whether the bass stays put when you move your jaw.

If your priority in true wireless is how the music actually sounds, the CX True Wireless is the Sennheiser answer at an everyday price.

Ownership notes

Keep the charging contacts clean with a dry cloth, store the buds in the case rather than pockets, and update the firmware through the Smart Control app when Sennheiser offers it — codec and control improvements arrive that way. Ear tips are consumables: replace them when they lose their seal and the original sound returns with them. Cared for routinely, the CX is a several-year daily companion rather than a disposable gadget. Sennheiser’s tuning restraint is the feature that keeps sounding better the longer you live with it.
