The PreSonus Eris Studio 8 is a two-way active nearfield and midfield monitor, sold as a single unit, built around an 8-inch low-frequency driver for mixes that need to be judged honestly in the low end as well as the midrange. Drivers and waveguide

The EBM waveguide shapes the tweeter output into a broad horizontal pattern with tighter vertical control, widening the usable listening area so small movements at the desk do not collapse the stereo image, and reducing strong reflections from the desk surface and ceiling. The front-firing acoustic port means bass energy exits toward the listener, and the internally braced vinyl-laminated MDF cabinet works to keep panel resonance from colouring the midrange.

Amplification and tuning

Two Class AB amplifiers are matched to the drivers, 75 watts for the woofer and 65 watts for the tweeter, giving the Studio 8 the dynamic headroom to reproduce transients cleanly at working levels. On the rear panel, High Frequency and Mid Frequency controls each adjust by plus or minus 6 dB, centred at 10 kHz and 1 kHz respectively, for fine correction of room and placement effects. The Acoustic Space switch applies flat, minus 2 dB or minus 4 dB shelving to compensate for the bass build-up that occurs near walls and corners, and the low-cut filter can be set flat or to 80 Hz or 100 Hz at 12 dB per octave when the monitor is paired with a subwoofer. Protection circuits cover RF interference, output-current limiting, over-temperature, transients and subsonic energy, with a soft-start feature that prevents power-up pops.

Connections and use in the studio

Balanced XLR and TRS inputs connect directly to audio interfaces and monitor controllers, while the RCA input accepts unbalanced sources such as media players. An internal power supply with an IEC inlet and a power switch with LED keeps cabling standard. Each monitor measures 250 mm wide, 419 mm high and 298 mm deep and weighs 10.07 kg, so stands or a substantial desk should be planned. Sold individually, the Eris Studio 8 can be deployed as a stereo pair, as the front stage of a surround setup matched with other Eris Studio models, or as a single mono reference for checking how a mix collapses.
