Ahuja BS6083T Wall Speaker

Ahuja BS6083T Wall Speaker

The Ahuja BS-6083T is a metal box speaker for 100 volt line public address systems, built around a 15.24 cm (6 inch) full range driver rated at 8 W RMS. Where a PA system has to cover a large building, a factory floor or a railway platform, running every speaker back to the amplifier on low impedance cable is impractical; a 100 V line system solves that by feeding many speakers from one amplifier over long, thin cable runs, with each speaker drawing only the power its transformer tap is set to. The BS-6083T is made for exactly that duty: speech announcements and background music in public and industrial spaces, in a powder-coated metal cabinet that shrugs off the knocks a plastic enclosure would not survive.

Built for 100 V line systems

The BS-6083T carries a built-in line matching transformer with three power taps: 8, 4 and 2 watts on a 100 V line. The tap setting decides how loud that one speaker plays relative to the rest of the system, so a corridor speaker can run at 2 W while a workshop speaker on the same amplifier line runs at the full 8 W. The installer balances the system by choosing taps, not by adding amplifiers, and the total load is simply the sum of the taps in use. That is what makes a single BS-6083T equally at home as one of four speakers in a school or one of forty across a factory.

A metal cabinet, on purpose

Ahuja builds this speaker in metal rather than plastic, with a powder-coated ivory finish, and describes the enclosure as vandal-proof. In a railway coach, a warehouse or a busy school corridor, a speaker is within reach of trolleys, ladders and the public; a metal box keeps working after impacts that would crack a moulded enclosure, and the finish resists the scuffs and grime of an industrial environment. The BS-6083T mounts on a wall or a ceiling — its sibling, the BS-6082T, is wall-mount only — and key holes in the cabinet make fitting a matter of fixing screws to the surface and hanging the unit on them.

Speech first, music second

The 6 inch full range driver and the 60 to 15,000 Hz response are chosen for the work this speaker actually does: announcements that must stay intelligible over machinery noise and crowd murmur, and background music at modest levels between them. A single full range driver keeps the design simple and dependable, with no crossover network to fail in a hot ceiling void or a dusty plant room. At 92 dB for one watt at one metre, even the 2 W tap produces clearly audible speech in a typical room, which is why small PA speakers of this class cover far more area than their wattage suggests.

For installers building or extending a 100 V line PA system, the BS-6083T is the straightforward choice: a metal-cabinet, transformer-tapped wall speaker from Ahuja’s long-running BS series, made for speech and background music in buildings that are hard on equipment.
