ELAC Cinema 12 5.1 Home Theatre Speaker Package

ELAC Cinema 12 5.1 Home Theatre Speaker Package

The ELAC Cinema 12 is a complete 5.1-channel speaker package from one of hi-fi’s oldest names: five voice-matched satellite speakers and a powered subwoofer, engineered to work together so a living room becomes a cinema with a single purchase. Add any AV receiver and the system is complete — dialogue anchored to the centre channel, effects panning seamlessly between matched speakers, and a subwoofer supplying the weight that makes film soundtracks physical.

Key features

• Complete 5.1 package: five satellites plus a powered subwoofer
• Voice-matched speakers for seamless surround panning
• Dedicated centre channel for clear dialogue
• Powered subwoofer for low-frequency effects and music weight
• Compact satellites for wall mounting or shelf placement
• Works with any AV receiver with 5.1 speaker outputs
• One-box purchase — no mixing and matching of brands

Why matched matters

Surround sound depends on sounds moving between speakers without changing character as they travel. When the five satellites come from one design, a voice or effect crossing the room keeps its timbre from channel to channel, and the soundfield holds together. Assembling five unrelated speakers rarely achieves that, which is the entire argument for a package — and the Cinema 12’s speakers are designed as a set from the start.

The centre channel and the subwoofer

Most of a film is dialogue, and most dialogue lives in the centre speaker: a dedicated centre channel, placed at the screen, is what keeps voices clear at sensible volumes. At the other extreme, the powered subwoofer takes the low-frequency effects channel and the bass the small satellites cannot reproduce, so explosions, scores and action sequences land with weight while the satellites stay clean.

Rooms it suits

Compact satellites wall-mount beside and behind the seating or sit on shelves and stands, keeping the room’s furniture plan intact. For apartments and family living rooms moving up from a soundbar or television speakers, the Cinema 12 is the step into genuine surround — matched, complete and ready the day the receiver arrives.

Receiver pairing and setup

Almost any 5.1 AV receiver from the major brands drives the Cinema 12 as intended — set the speakers to small in the receiver’s menu, let its room calibration handle levels and delays, and place the subwoofer near a front corner for reinforcement. Wall-mount the rears just above ear height at the seats, keep the centre channel at screen height aimed at the listeners, and the matched voicing does the rest. The package suits first surround systems and secondary rooms alike: it is the complete speaker side of the cinema, decided in one box, from a manufacturer whose loudspeaker history runs back to 1947.

Choose the ELAC Cinema 12 if you want real 5.1 surround in one considered purchase: matched speakers, a proper centre and a powered subwoofer from a single loudspeaker house.
