The ELAC Cinema 5.2 Home Theatre Speaker System is a complete six-piece surround system in one box, and the ELAC Cinema 5.2 Home Theatre Speaker System is designed for a buyer who wants cinema sound from a television without filling the room with large speakers. Four compact satellite speakers, a matching centre speaker and a powered 8-inch subwoofer give a full 5.1 layout, and the only other component needed is a 5.1-channel AV receiver. Small curved cabinets, wall-friendly satellite design and a single powered subwoofer make it a practical first surround system for a living room or a bedroom cinema.
Why Choose ELAC Cinema 5.2 Home Theatre Speaker System?
Most television speakers cannot reproduce film dialogue, effects and bass at the same time, and the ELAC Cinema 5.2 Home Theatre Speaker System solves that by splitting the work: the centre speaker anchors dialogue to the screen, the four satellites place effects around the listener, and the powered subwoofer carries bass that small speakers cannot. The satellites use a half-inch neodymium tweeter and a 3-inch polypropylene driver, so voices stay clear even when the cabinets are small, and the ELAC Cinema 5.2 Home Theatre Speaker System keeps its footprint tiny, with satellites just 89 mm wide, so it fits rooms where floorstanding speakers would dominate the furniture.
Key Features
Complete 5.1 package in one box: Four satellites, one centre speaker and one powered subwoofer – just add a 5.1 AV receiver.
Compact satellite design: Curved cabinets with recessed connections that sit nearly flush against a wall.
Dedicated centre speaker: A wider centre with dual 3-inch drivers so film dialogue stays anchored to the screen.
Powered 8-inch subwoofer: A bottom-firing 8-inch driver with a Class AB amplifier for room-filling bass from a compact cabinet.
Adjustable subwoofer controls: Volume, crossover and 0/180-degree phase controls plus standby mode for easy tuning.
Voice-matched drivers: Matching tweeters and polypropylene drivers across all five satellite and centre channels.
Best Suited For
The ELAC Cinema 5.2 Home Theatre Speaker System suits first-time home cinema buyers, small to medium living rooms, and bedrooms where a compact system matters more than audiophile scale. It is a strong upgrade from television speakers or a soundbar for buyers who want true surround placement, and it suits renters because the satellites are small and wall-friendly. It is not a substitute for a large floorstanding system in a big dedicated cinema room, where bigger speakers and a larger subwoofer would be the better choice.
Setup and Connection Guide
Place the ELAC Cinema 5.2 Home Theatre Speaker System centre speaker directly under or above the television, the front satellites either side of the screen, and the surround satellites to the sides or slightly behind the seating, all roughly at ear height where possible. Connect all five speakers to the AV receiver’s speaker terminals and the subwoofer to the receiver’s subwoofer output with an RCA cable, then set the subwoofer volume near the middle, the crossover to suit the satellites, and the phase to the setting that gives the fullest bass at the seat. Run the receiver’s calibration, then adjust subwoofer level by ear for film and music, since the correct setting depends on room size and placement.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the ELAC Cinema 5.2 Home Theatre Speaker System include an AV receiver?
No. The ELAC Cinema 5.2 Home Theatre Speaker System includes five speakers and a powered subwoofer, but it needs a separate 5.1-channel AV receiver to power the five satellite and centre channels. The subwoofer has its own built-in amplifier and mains power.
Is the Cinema 5.2 system a 5.2 system with two subwoofers?
No, despite the 5.2 name. The Cinema 5.2 system is a 5.1 system with one powered subwoofer, four satellites and one centre speaker. The 5.2 in the model name is ELAC’s model designation, not a count of subwoofers.
Can the satellites be wall-mounted?
Yes. The Cinema 5.2 system satellites are designed for near-wall placement with recessed connections, and their compact curved cabinets suit wall mounting with suitable brackets. Check the bracket type against the satellite’s rear fixing before drilling, since brackets are not listed as included in the box contents found.
