Pure Acoustics Rift 52 (WB-252) – 5.25 Inches In-wall Speaker

Pure Acoustics Rift 52 (WB-252) 5.25-inch In-Wall Speaker

The Pure Acoustics Rift 52, model WB-252, is a 2-way in-wall speaker built around two 5.25-inch woofers with a 0.75-inch dome tweeter between them. Pure Acoustics designates the WB-252 as an in-wall centre speaker, a configuration that puts extra cone area behind dialogue and on-screen action while keeping the speaker completely flush with the wall. The rated power handling is 165 W, impedance is 8 ohms, and the published frequency response runs from 49 Hz to 20 kHz, so the speaker covers the full centre-channel range of film and television soundtracks without needing a visible cabinet in the room. An ultra-thin magnetic grille finishes the installation with a clean, low-profile face.

Driver array and crossover

Using two 5.25-inch woofers instead of one gives the Rift 52 more radiating area in the midrange and upper bass, which is where the centre channel does most of its work in a home theatre: dialogue, effects anchored to the screen and the centre portion of the music score. The 0.75-inch dome tweeter handles the high frequencies, and a 12 dB crossover network divides the signal between the drivers so each works in the range it reproduces best, keeping highs defined rather than smeared across the woofer output. Sensitivity is rated at 88 dB, which means ordinary AV receivers and multi-room amplifiers can drive the speaker to useful levels without unusual power demands, and the 8 ohm impedance is a standard, amplifier-friendly load.

Installation in the wall

The WB-252 is designed for a straightforward, repeatable fit. The product measures 37.3 x 18.7 x 7.7 cm, and the required wall cutout is 33.7 x 15.2 x 7.3 cm; an installation template is included so the opening can be marked accurately before cutting. Six premium mounting clamps hold the speaker securely in the wall cavity once it is positioned, and the Push N Connect terminals accept the speaker cable quickly without tools fiddling behind the baffle. The ultra-thin magnetic grille then snaps over the face, sitting almost flush with the wall surface for a discreet result in living rooms, media rooms and commercial spaces where visible speakers are unwanted. As with any in-wall speaker, confirming stud positions and cavity depth before cutting is essential.

Where the Rift 52 fits

As a centre speaker, the Rift 52 belongs in the wall directly above or below the screen, aligned with the main listening seats, where its dual-woofer layout supports clear dialogue at cinema listening levels. The same wide, shallow format also works for installers who need a discreet in-wall speaker with more output than a single small woofer provides, for background music and general audio in rooms where floor or shelf space is not available for cabinets. It is a passive speaker, so it connects to an AV receiver or amplifier with ordinary speaker cable, and total system output will depend on the amplifier and the rest of the speaker package it is matched with.

If the goal is a home theatre front stage that disappears into the wall, the Rift 52 (WB-252) offers a dual-woofer centre-channel design, a shallow 7.7 cm mounting depth and a magnetic grille finish that keeps the installation visually quiet while the sound stays firmly on screen.
