Sonos Sub Mini Wireless Subwoofer – Black

Sonos Sub Mini Wireless Subwoofer – Black – Deep, Controlled Bass for Smaller Sonos Systems

The Sonos Sub Mini in black is a compact wireless subwoofer built to complete smaller Sonos setups. Soundbars such as the Beam and Ray, and speakers such as the Era 100 and One, deliver clear dialogue and detailed music but cannot reproduce the lowest frequencies from their small cabinets. The Sub Mini takes over that work, adding weight to film soundtracks and fullness to music without demanding the floor space of a full-size subwoofer.

It connects to a Sonos system over Wi-Fi, so placement is not dictated by a cable run to the soundbar. Once added through the Sonos app, it blends with the paired speaker automatically, and room tuning helps it sit naturally in the space rather than booming in a corner.

Key features

• Two 6-inch woofers mounted face to face in a force-cancelling arrangement
• Low-frequency extension down to 25 Hz
• Sealed cylindrical cabinet with a central tunnel design
• Class-D amplification dedicated to the bass drivers
• Wireless pairing with Sonos soundbars and speakers over Wi-Fi
• Trueplay room tuning adapts output to the listening space
• Adjustable sub level and EQ in the Sonos app
• Ethernet port available for a wired network connection
• Compact footprint suited to apartments and smaller rooms
• Matte black finish matches other Sonos components

Performance

The force-cancelling driver layout is central to how the Sub Mini behaves. Because the two woofers face each other and move in opposition, much of the mechanical energy that would normally shake the cabinet cancels out. The cabinet stays still, so energy goes into moving air rather than into rattling furniture, and bass remains tight and clearly pitched instead of loose and one-note.

Extension to 25 Hz means effects such as footsteps, engines and explosions carry genuine physical presence, while music gains the foundation that makes kick drums and bass guitars sound complete. Because the paired Sonos speaker no longer has to attempt deep bass, its midrange typically sounds cleaner and more open at the same time.

Setup and control

Setup runs through the Sonos app: add the Sub Mini, assign it to a room and pair it with a compatible soundbar or speaker. Trueplay tuning, using a supported iOS device, measures the room and adjusts the response. After that, bass level and EQ can be fine-tuned in the app, and volume stays linked to the paired speaker so everyday control remains a single action.

Design and placement

The cylindrical cabinet stands 305 mm tall with a 230 mm diameter and weighs 6.35 kg, so it fits beside a sofa, under a side table or next to a media unit without dominating the room. The black matte finish is understated, and with only a power cable required, placement can be chosen for sound rather than for wiring convenience.

Choose the Sub Mini if your Sonos soundbar or speakers sound clear but light, and you want the low-end impact of a dedicated subwoofer in a size that suits a flat, bedroom or compact living room.
