Bose Freespace FS2C In-ceiling Loudspeaker (white)(pair)

Bose FreeSpace FS2C In-Ceiling Loudspeaker White (Pair)

The Bose FreeSpace FS2C is an in-ceiling loudspeaker from Bose Professional’s FreeSpace FS range, designed for background music and voice announcements in commercial spaces. Each speaker uses a single 2.25-inch full-range transducer, voiced to match the rest of the FS family so tonal quality stays consistent across a building. With 150-degree conical coverage, front-baffle connections and transformer taps for 70 V and 100 V systems as well as a 16 ohm bypass, it is built for fast, repeatable installation.

Key features

• Single 2.25-inch full-range transducer, shared voicing across the FreeSpace FS range
• Wide 150-degree conical coverage for even sound with fewer speakers
• Frequency response 95 to 16,000 Hz, range extending down to 83 Hz
• 70 V and 100 V transformer taps plus 16 ohm bypass operation
• Front-baffle Euroblock input and tap settings for easy installation
• QuickHold mounting, magnetically attached grille and removable logo
• EN54-24 certified and UL 1480 listed for voice alarm and life safety use

Coverage and sound quality

The FS2C’s wide conical coverage is its main working advantage. A nominal coverage angle of 150 degrees between 1 and 4 kHz means each speaker serves a broad area of floor, so ceilings need fewer cutouts to reach even background levels across a room. The full-range driver is tuned for the two jobs ceiling speakers actually do: clear voice reproduction for announcements and smooth, unobtrusive response for background music. Bose rates sensitivity at 86 dB at 1 watt and 1 metre, with calculated maximum output of 99 dB continuous and 105 dB peak on the AES transducer test.

Power handling and system matching

Long-term continuous power handling is 20 W on the AES transducer test, with 80 W peak handling. On distributed lines the transformer offers taps of 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 W at 70 V, and 2, 4, 8 and 16 W at 100 V, set from the front baffle; a bypass position runs the speaker at its nominal 16 ohm impedance for low-impedance systems. Bose recommends high-pass protection at 85 Hz with a minimum 24 dB per octave filter. Because every FreeSpace FS model shares the same voicing, the FS2C can be mixed with FS surface-mount models in the same project without a change in character from room to room.

Installation and safety

Installation is designed to be quick: the six-pin Euroblock connector with loop-through is mounted on the front baffle, the tap selector is also at the front, and the QuickHold mounting system speeds up fitting, while the grille attaches magnetically and the logo can be removed for a cleaner ceiling. The enclosure combines an engineered-plastics front baffle with an integrated steel backcan and a perforated steel grille. The FS2C is EN54-24 certified for voice alarm systems and UL 1480 UUMW listed for fire alarm and signalling use, and it is suitable for plenum locations.

Fit and finish

Each speaker measures 182 mm in diameter with a total depth of 132 mm and weighs 1.63 kg, a compact footprint that fits standard ceiling construction. The White finish and minimal bezel keep the speaker discreet against light ceilings. Sold as a pair, the FS2C suits facilities managers, integrators and contractors who need consistent, certified ceiling sound for music and paging across one room or an entire building.
