SanDisk Creator Phone SSD 1TB

SanDisk Creator Phone SSD 1TB

The SanDisk Creator Phone SSD is a 1TB portable SSD built for people who shoot on their phones. It attaches magnetically to MagSafe-compatible smartphones, connects over USB-C and records 4K video at 60 frames per second in Apple ProRes directly to the drive on supported iPhone Pro models, so the phone’s internal storage stops being the limit on a shooting day. When the shoot ends, the same drive moves to a computer and offloads at up to 1,000 MB/s, turning hours of footage transfer into minutes.

Key features

• 1 TB capacity in a 54 g pocket-sized drive
• Sequential reads up to 1,000 MB/s and writes up to 950 MB/s
• USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface over a USB-C connector
• MagSafe-compatible magnetic attachment for smartphones
• Direct 4K 60 fps Apple ProRes recording on supported iPhones
• IP65 dust and water resistance and drop protection up to 3 metres
• Formatted in exFAT for phones, tablets and computers
• Includes magnetic ring and USB-C cable

Made for phone-first production

Modern phones shoot excellent video, and ProRes files are enormous. A few minutes of 4K ProRes can consume more space than a whole photo library, which is why shoots stall on a storage-full warning. The Creator Phone SSD removes that ceiling: snap it onto the back of a MagSafe-compatible phone, connect the short USB-C cable, and record straight to the drive’s full 1 TB. The footage is already on external storage when you finish, ready to hand to an editor or plug into your own machine. An included magnetic ring extends the same attachment to non-magnetic phones and even to a laptop lid, so the drive can move between shooting and editing positions.

Speed that keeps up

The USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface delivers sequential read speeds of up to 1,000 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 950 MB/s. Those write figures matter twice over: they are comfortably above what direct ProRes recording demands, so the drive never becomes the bottleneck mid-take, and they make end-of-day offloads fast enough to be a non-event. Large photo libraries, project folders and finished edits move in seconds to minutes rather than the long waits of a mechanical drive or a phone’s internal storage shared over a cable.

Built for location work

A silicone shell wraps the drive, and SanDisk rates it for drops of up to three metres and IP65 resistance to dust and water jets. That is the difference between a drive you pack carefully and one you simply carry: it rides in a pocket or a camera bag, works on outdoor shoots and survives the knocks of a production day. At 82.5 x 68.4 x 11 mm and 54 grams, it adds almost nothing to the weight of a phone rig.

Compatibility and what is in the box

The drive is formatted in exFAT and works with Windows 10 and later, macOS 14 and later, iOS and iPadOS 17 and later, and Android 14 and later. The box contains the Creator Phone SSD, the magnetic ring, a USB-C cable, a quick start guide and the safety and warranty guide, and SanDisk includes one month of Adobe Creative Cloud to get an edit started. The drive carries a 5-year limited warranty.

Choose the Creator Phone SSD 1TB if your phone is your camera and storage warnings are costing you takes. It turns the phone into a proper production rig and then serves as a fast, rugged drive everywhere else in your workflow.
