BEC Akustik IC-70B In-Ceiling Speaker (Pair)

BEC Akustik IC-70B In-Ceiling Speaker (Pair)

The BEC Akustik IC-70B is the compact member of BEC’s German-engineered IC line array family, built for ceiling installation where a standard round ceiling speaker cannot deliver even coverage. Three broadband drivers (20 x 120 mm each) sit in a slim aluminium enclosure 698 mm long and just 23 mm deep, forming a short line source. The array radiates 180 degrees horizontally but only 40 degrees vertically, so sound spreads across the listening area instead of bouncing between floor and ceiling.

Sold as a pair, the IC-70B suits stereo background and foreground music in homes, cafes, hotels, showrooms and offices. Its 6-ohm impedance and 30 W rated power handling (60 W maximum) pair comfortably with multi-room amplifiers and AV receivers, and at 700 g per speaker it places almost no load on the ceiling structure.

Key Features

• Line array design with wide 180-degree horizontal dispersion for even coverage over larger areas
• Three broadband drivers in a rigid, low-profile aluminium housing
• Frequency range of 120 Hz – 20 kHz (-6 dB), 86 dB sensitivity, up to 102 dB maximum SPL
• Only 23 mm deep, with metal angle bracket included for ceiling mounting
• Phoenix 2-pole connectors for quick, secure installation wiring
• Passive BEC crossover, with an active Bessel 6 dB / 180 Hz crossover option

Controlled Dispersion, Less Wasted Sound

A conventional ceiling speaker sprays sound in all directions, so the listener directly below hears far more than someone a few metres away. The IC-70B’s line array geometry keeps vertical spread tight and horizontal spread wide, evening out levels across the room and reducing spill into neighbouring zones. Speech stays intelligible at modest volumes, and music zones in open-plan spaces stay separated. For full-range playback, combine the pair with a subwoofer to cover the octave below 120 Hz.

Typical Applications

The IC-70B pair fits living spaces and kitchens that need discreet stereo, hospitality and retail floors where consistent background music matters, and boardrooms or classrooms where presenters must be heard clearly at the back. Optional in-wall and magnetic on-wall brackets let the same speaker family continue into other positions in the room.
