The Focal 100ICLCR5 Angled In-Ceiling LCR Speaker is an in-ceiling loudspeaker built for home cinema front channels, with its drivers mounted on an angled baffle so sound fires down and forward toward the listener instead of straight at the floor. Two 5 inch Polyglass woofers flank a 1 inch aluminium inverted dome tweeter, and an 8 inch Polyglass passive radiator supports the low end, all inside a built-in back-box that keeps the sound controlled and predictable. The Focal 100ICLCR5 Angled In-Ceiling LCR Speaker can serve as a left, centre or right channel, with a switch that adapts its tonal balance to whichever role it plays.
Why Choose This Product?
The Focal 100ICLCR5 Angled In-Ceiling LCR Speaker solves the classic in-ceiling problem: speakers in the ceiling usually sound distant because they fire at the floor. The angled baffle aims the sound at the seats, so dialogue stays intelligible and effects keep their impact, which matters most for the centre channel in a film. The built-in back-box removes the guesswork of wall-cavity volume, giving consistent bass from room to room, and the three-position tweeter level switch plus the left, centre and right imaging switch let the installer tune the speaker to the room and its role. Frameless magnetic grilles in square and round shapes, ready to paint, let it disappear into the ceiling.
Key Features
Angled baffle design: Drivers fire down and forward toward the listener, not straight down, for clear dialogue and focused cinema sound.
Dual 5 inch Polyglass woofers: Two rigid, well-damped mid-bass drivers with an 8 inch Polyglass passive radiator for controlled low end.
1 inch aluminium inverted dome tweeter: Focal’s signature tweeter for smooth, detailed highs, with a three-position level switch (minus 3, 0, plus 3 dB).
Built-in back-box: The Focal 100ICLCR5 Angled In-Ceiling LCR Speaker includes its own enclosure for consistent, predictable bass.
Left, centre and right switch: An imaging switch adapts the speaker’s balance to its front-channel role in a home cinema.
Discreet finish: Frameless square and circular magnetic grilles, paintable to match the ceiling, with tropicalisation for humid rooms.
Best Suited For
The Focal 100ICLCR5 Angled In-Ceiling LCR Speaker suits dedicated home cinemas and living-room theatres where the front three channels must stay invisible. It is ideal above or in front of a screen for left, centre and right duties, in media rooms with a projector, and in any space where floor-standing speakers are not wanted but cinema dialogue clarity is still a priority.
Setup and Connection Guide
Cut the ceiling opening to the template, wire the speaker from a suitable amplifier (25 to 100 watts into 8 ohms), and mount it using the EQI-style fixing system so the angled baffle points toward the main seats. Set the left, centre or right switch to match the speaker’s role, adjust the tweeter level switch to the room’s acoustics, and fit the paintable magnetic grille last. Pair it with matching Focal 100 series surrounds and a subwoofer for a complete, tonally consistent cinema system.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the Focal 100ICLCR5 Angled In-Ceiling LCR Speaker be used as a centre channel?
Yes. It is designed as an LCR speaker, and its imaging switch has left, centre and right positions so the tonal balance stays identical whichever front-channel role it plays.
Why is the Focal 100ICLCR5 Angled In-Ceiling LCR Speaker angled?
Because a flat in-ceiling speaker fires at the floor, while the angled baffle directs sound down and forward to the listeners, keeping dialogue clear and effects focused.
Does the Focal 100ICLCR5 Angled In-Ceiling LCR Speaker need a separate back-box?
No. It has a built-in back-box, so its bass response is consistent regardless of the ceiling cavity behind it, and installation is simpler.
