The Ahuja CCS-2300 is a two-way counter communication system designed for clear, hands-free conversation across counters fitted with transparent security barriers. Glass and acrylic screens protect staff but block speech, forcing both sides to shout or press against the barrier. The CCS-2300 solves this with a dedicated attendant unit, customer unit and power supply unit that carry both voices across the barrier at normal speaking level. It is built for bank counters, ticket windows, cash counters, hospital reception desks, pharmacies and similar service points.

Attendant and customer units

The attendant unit is a compact tabletop unit measuring 116 mm wide, 65 mm high and 170 mm deep without the gooseneck, and weighing 1.3 kg. Its 20 inch gooseneck microphone positions the capsule close to the attendant’s mouth for strain-free use through a full shift, keeping speech consistent without the attendant leaning towards the barrier. A 3.5 mm jack socket accepts a headband microphone such as the Ahuja HBM-50, which the attendant can use as an alternative to the fixed gooseneck when freedom of movement matters.

The customer unit, a round housing 98 mm in diameter and 52 mm deep weighing 0.55 kg, combines an efficient speaker with a sensitive condenser cartridge in a well-designed enclosure that mounts on the customer side of the counter. Both units use electret condenser microphone elements, chosen for clear speech pickup at conversational distances.

Conversation control and voice priority

Separate controls adjust the speech levels for the Talk and Listen modes, so the installer can balance how loud the attendant sounds to the customer and how loud the customer sounds to the attendant, independently. The attendant’s microphone has voice priority over the customer’s microphone, which keeps exchanges orderly when both sides speak at once and ensures instructions and amounts are heard first time.

The Auto-Mute facility addresses the main annoyance of counter systems: an open customer microphone feeding hall noise into the attendant’s ear all day. With Auto-Mute switched on through its toggle switch, the customer’s microphone is partially muted if it has not been used for about 30 seconds. The attendant is then shielded from unwanted outside noise, and the microphone returns to service when the next customer speaks.

Installation and power

The three units connect with dedicated cables supplied with the system, including 4.5 metres of interconnecting cable for the customer unit, and Ahuja supplies moulded screws and self-adhesive Dual Lock tape for flexible mounting of the customer unit. The system runs on 220-240V AC at 50/60 Hz through its separate power supply unit, which measures 85 by 58 by 150 mm and weighs 0.93 kg, and protection is provided by a 1 x 0.5 A AC fuse, with one spare fuse included. Installation is simple, requires no modification to the barrier itself, and once fitted the system needs no attention beyond switching on. For any counter where a security screen stands between staff and the public, the CCS-2300 restores normal conversation.
