The Paradigm Defiance V10 is a compact powered subwoofer built around a 10-inch carbon-loaded polypropylene driver and a 120-watt RMS Class-D amplifier, delivering deep, controlled bass for music and home theatre in small to medium rooms. With a frequency response of 29Hz to 200Hz (±3 dB) and low-frequency extension down to 26 Hz (DIN), the Paradigm Defiance V10 reaches genuinely low notes without the bulk of a large cabinet, and its down-firing ported enclosure keeps the bass full and even. Anthem Room Correction (ARC) readiness and app control let you tune the subwoofer to your room from your phone, making it an easy, high-performance upgrade for any stereo or surround system.
Why Choose the Paradigm Defiance V10?
Most compact subwoofers force a choice between size and depth, but it refuses that compromise: its 10-inch driver and 250-watt dynamic peak amplifier move enough air for convincing movie impact, while the compact 39.9 cm cube cabinet fits beside a sofa, under a side table, or into a cabinet-friendly corner. Because it is ARC-ready, it can be measured and corrected for your room’s acoustics instead of fighting them, and the free Subwoofer Control App puts volume, low-pass frequency, phase, and deep-bass settings in your hand without reaching behind the cabinet. It is the sensible way to add real low-frequency foundation to bookshelf speakers, in-wall speakers, or a compact surround package.
Key Features
10-inch carbon-loaded polypropylene driver: A stiff, light cone that stays composed at high excursion for clean, punchy bass.
120W RMS Class-D amplifier (250W dynamic peak): Efficient, cool-running power with real headroom for demanding movie passages.
Deep, honest bass extension: Response rated ±3 dB from 29Hz to 200Hz, with 26 Hz (DIN) low-frequency extension for music and film.
Anthem Room Correction ready: Measure your room and correct peaks and dips with ARC, using a smartphone and the optional calibrated microphone.
App control from your seat: The free Paradigm Subwoofer Control App adjusts volume, low-pass filter, phase, and deep bass, with three preset listening modes.
Flexible connections: RCA line-level/LFE inputs plus speaker-level inputs suit AV receivers, stereo amplifiers, and systems without a subwoofer output.
Best Suited For
It suits home theatre rooms and living spaces where a full-size subwoofer is impractical, music lovers adding weight to bookshelf or in-wall speakers, and compact surround systems built around Paradigm Cinema or CI speakers. Its satin black finish and discreet cube form blend into living rooms, bedrooms, and media rooms, and the optional wireless kit (sold separately) helps when running a cable to the ideal corner is difficult.
Setup and Connection Guide
Place the subwoofer near the front speakers, ideally in a corner or along the front wall, keeping the down-firing port clear of obstruction. For an AV receiver, connect a single RCA cable from the receiver’s subwoofer output to the subwoofer’s LFE input; for a stereo amplifier without a subwoofer output, use the speaker-level inputs from the amplifier’s speaker terminals. Set the low-pass filter to bypass (or around 80 Hz) when the receiver manages bass, then adjust volume and phase from the app while playing familiar bass-heavy material. Finally, run Anthem Room Correction if available, and re-check the level so the bass supports the main speakers rather than overwhelming them.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size driver and amplifier does this subwoofer use?
It uses a 10-inch (254 mm) carbon-loaded polypropylene driver powered by a built-in Class-D amplifier rated at 120 watts RMS with 250 watts dynamic peak.
How low does it play?
Paradigm rates it at ±3 dB from 29Hz to 200Hz, with low-frequency extension to 26 Hz (DIN), so it covers the deep bass in music and movie soundtracks.
Can I control it from my phone?
Yes. The free Paradigm Subwoofer Control App for iOS and Android adjusts volume, low-pass frequency, phase, and deep bass, offers three preset listening modes, and works with Anthem Room Correction.
