Projector & Accessories buying guide
A projector gives you a 100-inch or bigger picture for less than the price of a large TV, turning any living room, bedroom or terrace into a home cinema. Pro Audio Video stocks home cinema, gaming, portable, office and ultra short throw projectors from Epson, BenQ, Optoma, LG, XGIMI, Hisense and Lenyes, along with fixed-frame, motorised and ALR projector screens, ceiling mounts and accessories. You can see projectors on demo at our Experience Center in Andheri West, Mumbai.
Types of projectors
- Home cinema projectors: high contrast and accurate colour for films in a dark room. 4K models from Epson, BenQ and Optoma are popular.
- Gaming projectors: low input lag and high refresh rates for PS5, Xbox and PC gaming.
- Portable smart projectors: compact, with built-in streaming apps, speakers and sometimes batteries. XGIMI and Lenyes models are favourites.
- Ultra short throw (UST) laser projectors: sit just inches from the wall and project a 100 to 120-inch picture. Often called "laser TVs".
- Office and education projectors: bright projectors for presentations in lit rooms.
How to choose a projector
- Resolution: 4K UHD for big screens and home theatres; Full HD 1080p for screens up to about 100 inches and tighter budgets.
- Brightness (ANSI lumens): 1,500 to 2,500 for a dark room; 3,000 or more for rooms with some ambient light.
- Contrast and HDR: higher contrast gives deeper blacks; HDR10 support improves 4K content.
- Light source: laser projectors last 20,000+ hours, start instantly and keep brightness; lamp projectors cost less but need lamp replacement.
- Throw ratio: tells you how far the projector must be from the screen for a given picture size. UST projectors need only a few inches.
- Smart features: built-in Android TV or Google TV with Netflix saves you an external streaming stick.
- Connectivity: HDMI 2.1 or eARC for gaming and sound systems.
Do you need a projector screen?
A proper screen gives a brighter, sharper and more colourful picture than a painted wall. Fixed-frame screens suit dedicated theatres, motorised screens roll away when not in use, and ALR (ambient light rejecting) screens keep the picture bright in living rooms. UST projectors need special UST ALR screens for best results.
Sound for your projector
Projector speakers are small. For a cinema experience, pair your projector with a soundbar or a home theatre system with an AV receiver. Use HDMI from your streaming device to the AV receiver, then HDMI to the projector, for both picture and sound.
Installation
Ceiling mounting keeps the projector out of the way. Plan power and HDMI cables before false-ceiling work, and use fibre optic HDMI cables for runs longer than 10 metres. We install projectors and screens across Mumbai.

FAQs about Projector & Accessories
Can I see a projector demo before buying?
Yes. Visit our Experience Center in Andheri West, Mumbai, or call us to book a demo.
How many lumens do I need?
For a dark room, 1,500 to 2,500 ANSI lumens is enough. For rooms with some light, choose 3,000 lumens or more, or an ALR screen.
Is a projector better than a TV?
Projectors give a much larger picture for the price. TVs are brighter in sunlit rooms. Many customers use a projector for films and sport in the evening.
Can I use a projector in daylight?
With a bright projector and an ALR screen, yes. A darker room always gives the best picture.
What is an ultra short throw projector?
A projector that sits a few inches from the wall and projects a huge picture upward, with no ceiling mount needed.
Do projectors have Netflix?
Many smart projectors include certified Netflix and Google TV. Others need a streaming device such as Fire TV or Apple TV.
Do you install projectors and screens?
Yes. We install projectors, screens and home theatre systems across Mumbai.
